Go somewhere worth writing home about.

I'm Kate, an independent travel agent in the UK. I plan your trip end to end, from the first idea to the flight home.

Not a call centre. A person.

I'm an independent travel agent based in the UK, and I plan every trip as if I were going myself. That means asking the questions a booking website never will: how you like to spend a morning, whether you'd rather have a view or a bigger room, how much walking is too much walking.

From a long weekend in Lisbon to three weeks across Japan, I'll build it around you, book every piece, and be on the end of the phone while you're away.

Why book with an independent agent

“The best trips aren't found by scrolling. They're built by someone who's been there, knows who to call, and picks up when you need them.”

You deal with one person from the first chat to the flight home, and there's never a call-centre queue.

Some of the companies I book with

  • Etihad Airways
  • Jet2holidays
  • Viator

Terracotta rooftops of Lisbon under a clear blue skyPortugal

Lisbon and the Alentejo

Best for
City and countryside
Flight
About 2 hours 40 minutes from London
Best time
April to October

Pastel streets, custard tarts and river light. Then an hour south, vineyards and farmhouse stays where the loudest thing is the cork trees.

Costa Rica from coast to cloud forest

Best for
Adventure and families
Flight
Long-haul, about 11 hours
Best time
December to April

Volcanoes, sloths and two oceans in one trip. Brilliant with children and better with a plan, because the roads are slow and the routing matters.

Kyoto and beyond

Best for
Culture and food
Flight
Long-haul, about 14 hours
Best time
March to May, or October to November

Temples at dawn, ryokan dinners, bullet trains that arrive to the second. I’ll handle the rail passes and the restaurants that don’t take online bookings.

Pick one and I'll add it to your enquiry so we can start from there.

Postcards from people I've planned trips for

Does using an agent cost more than booking myself?

Often it doesn't. I have access to the same rates as booking direct, and sometimes better ones, and you get a real person in your corner if plans change.

If a particular trip needs a planning fee, I'll tell you before you commit to anything.

How far ahead should I book?

For school holidays, honeymoons and long-haul trips, six to twelve months ahead gives you the best choice. For short breaks a couple of months is usually plenty, but it's never too late to ask.

When should I buy travel insurance?

As soon as you book. Insurance bought on the day you book covers you if something forces you to cancel before you travel.

What happens if something goes wrong while I'm away?

You call me. Whether it's a cancelled flight or a hotel that isn't right, I'll work on fixing it while you get on with your holiday.

Can you help with just part of a trip?

Yes. A tricky rail connection, one special hotel, or a second opinion on plans you've made yourself are all fine.

Advice and tips

The questions I'm asked most, answered honestly. If yours isn't here, ask me. There's no such thing as a silly travel question.

Kate's tip

Check your passport has at least six months left before you fall in love with a destination.

Where to next?

Tell me roughly what you're dreaming of and I'll come back with ideas. There's no obligation.
